Why do it
With the Chrome extension
- On X, go to Settings › Your account › Download an archive of your data and request it.
- When X tells you it's ready, download the zip file.
- In the X Cleaner panel on x.com, import the archive (Pro). It is read locally in your browser.
- Filter by date, keyword or type, check the selection, then delete.
With X Cleaner Cloud
- Request and download your archive from X the same way.
- Sign in to X Cleaner Cloud with X and import the archive.
- Choose what to delete: by type, date or words.
- Confirm: the cleanup runs on our servers, with no credits spent on reading tweets.
Good to know
X can take a while to prepare your archive, so request it before you need it. Archive import is part of Pro in the extension.
Questions
How do I download my X archive?
On X, go to Settings › Your account › Download an archive of your data. X prepares the file and lets you know when it's ready, which can take a while.
Why can't I see tweets older than 3,200?
X only lists your ~3,200 most recent tweets, on your profile and through its API. The archive contains your full history, so X Cleaner can reach the older ones.
Is my archive uploaded to your servers?
Not with the extension: the zip is read in your browser and never sent. Our server only receives your X ID and deletion counters.
Does X Cleaner Cloud support archive import?
Yes. In the Cloud, importing the archive also avoids the half credit charged to read each tweet before filtering it.
Ready to clean up?
