Demo — fictional account and tweets

Why do it

A name you want goneRemove every tweet that mentions an ex, a former employer or an old friend.
Topics you've moved on fromClear the posts about an old project, a past campaign or a hashtag you used for years.
Words you regretSearch for swear words or heated terms and delete only those tweets.

With the Chrome extension

  1. Install X Cleaner from the Chrome Web Store and open x.com.
  2. In the panel, scan your tweets, replies or retweets.
  3. Type a word, a name or a hashtag in the keyword filter (Pro).
  4. Check the matching tweets, protect any you want to keep, then delete.

With X Cleaner Cloud

  1. Sign in with X from any device.
  2. Add the words to target with "contains", or the ones to spare with "does not contain".
  3. Add a date or a minimum number of likes to keep if you want.
  4. Confirm: the cleanup runs on our servers, even with your computer off.

Good to know

The keyword filter is part of Pro in the extension. X only lists your ~3,200 most recent tweets, so import your X archive to search older ones. In the Cloud, reading a tweet to filter it costs half a credit; importing your archive avoids these reads.

Questions

Can I delete tweets that mention a specific person?

Yes. Type their name or username in the keyword filter: every scanned tweet that contains it is selected, and you can uncheck any before deleting.

Can I delete tweets with a specific hashtag?

Yes. Enter the hashtag as the keyword and X Cleaner selects every scanned tweet that contains it.

Can I keep tweets that contain certain words?

In the Cloud, use "does not contain" to spare tweets with those words. In the extension, protect individual tweets and they are never deleted.

Is the keyword filter free?

In the extension, it is part of Pro ($5.49/month or $21 for life). In the Cloud, it is included; you only pay for credits.
